When Jesus talks about taking his yoke upon you, he is talking about rabbinic thought. Students would seek a Rabbi, but Rabbi's chose their students. Jesus called the disciples that he wanted to have follow him, he chose them.
The yoke is used when you had a new ox. You would yoke the young ox to an older, more experienced ox. Then as you were plowing or pulling your cart, the young ox could not pull away from the larger and more experienced ox. That is how the young ox would learn.
Jesus wants us to yoke ourselves to him, to learn to walk as he walks. To learn from him. To be HIS disciple.
