Works/Deeds
Matt 5:16
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
NKJV
Matt 16:27
For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.
NKJV
John 6:28-29
Then they said to Him, "What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?" 29 Jesus answered and said to them,
"This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent."
NKJV
Acts 26:19-20
"Therefore, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision, 20 but declared first to those in Damascus
and in Jerusalem, and throughout all the region of Judea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent, turn
to God, and do works befitting repentance.
NKJV
Rom 3:27-28
Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? No, but by the law of faith. 28 Therefore we conclude
that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law.
NKJV
Eph 2:8-10
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works,
lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared
beforehand that we should walk in them.
NKJV
Eph 4:11-12
And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the
equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ
NKJV
Prov 16:3
Commit your works to the LORD,
And your thoughts will be established.
NKJV
Matt 6:1
"Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have
no reward from your Father in heaven.
NKJV
1 Peter 2:12
....
having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good
works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation.
NKJV
James 2:14-17
What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15
If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, "Depart in peace,
be warmed and filled," but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit?
17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
NKJV
James 2:20-22
But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by
works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? 22 Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by
works faith was made perfect?
NKJV
2 Cor 5:10
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body,
according to what he has done, whether good or bad.
NKJV
Many people are confused by "Works".
Are we saved by faith or not? If we are saved by faith, why do we need "works".
No, the bible does not contradict itself. It is simply not understood correctly.
Our salvation comes strictly by faith through Jesus Christ. It is a gift (Eph 2:8,9).
There is nothing we can do to earn salvation. I think that is easily understood.
But as Christians, we are CREATED TO DO GOOD WORKS FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD.
Amen!?! (Eph 2:10)
What we do for the Kingdom of God while we are here on earth is because of our love for
what he has done for us, and because we want to obey his call on our lives. He
did not give gifts to man to put on a shelf and say, "Hey, look at my gifting!".
Some are called
into the "five fold ministry" (Eph 4:11 above). Many of us may simply be called
to share our faith. Some of you may have skills that can benefit the kingdom, whether it be
carpentry, electrical, cooking, cleaning, feeding the homeless, visiting people
in prison or the hospital.... the list is endless. You may have the gift of
hospitality. Use it for the Glory of God.
Remember, what we do while we are here in the natural body reflects our Love for God. And he will
hold us accountable when we go before his throne.
(2 Cor 5:10).
