Ex 3:15 God also said to Moses, "Say to the Israelites, 'The LORD, the God of your fathers — the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob — has sent me to you.' This is my name forever, the name by which I am to be remembered from generation to generation. NIV
In today’s bible, God’s Hebrew name YHWH is replaced with the word LORD.
LORD - OT:3068 Yehovah (yeh-ho-vaw'); from OT:1961; (the) self-Existent or Eternal

Hebrew is read right to left. The four Hebrew letters that make up Gods name transliterate into English YHWH. The Hebrew language only used consonants. Vowels were used through common knowledge.

When we see ‘God’ in the bible it refers to a ‘Diety’. So where do we find Gods name?

God has a name. Why isn’t it used in scripture?
Ex 20:7 "You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.

Gods name was to be held in the highest regard. The Jews took this to an extreme. To honor the command they forbid the use of speaking or writing the Holy name of God to ensure it would never be desecrated. God’s name it was replaced with the Hebrew word Adonai which translates to “Lord”. All capital letters were used in the bible to distinguish the creator from the general word for Lord. Any Paper/script that was later torn, burned or thrown away would not have Gods sacred name written on it.
Adonai is translated in our bible as “Sovereign”, or the more generic term “Lord”.
In Gen 15 the passage would read “O Adonai (Lord) Yahweh…”
Gen 15:2 But Abram said, "O Sovereign LORD, what can you give me since I remain childless and the one who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?"
Judg 6:15 "But Lord," Gideon asked, "how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family."

Why is there a question on Pronunciation of Yahweh or Jehovah?
The English language has undergone change over the centuries. Around the 16th century The original Y sound changed to a J and the original W sound was changed to a V.

Old English - Yahweh - YHWH - Yod, Hey, Wah, Hey
Modern English - YHVH - Yod, Hey, Vav, Hey –
Yod replaced with a J sound. Waw replaced with the V sound.
God gave us his name to remember him by. We are to exalt his name. Jews use the original spelling and refer to Gods name as Yahweh.
They continue to reference God using the term Adoni (Lord) or HaShem (Hebrew for “the name”).
